Police have recovered two crucial fingerprints from the home of the government officer where a burglary had been committed the day before.
Around 70 sovereigns of gold, Rs. 38,000 in cash and a fossil watch has been burgled, says Dhandapani Velusamy, a Tamilnadu State Transport Corporation assistant engineer.
The incident happened when he and his family had left to Sathyamangalam for a family function.
CCTV footages in the area have been examined for any suspicious movement.
A Special Investigative team has been tasked to solve the crime as police have recorded at least five incidents of house break-ins in the month of May alone. Even on Sunday last week 23 sovereigns of gold jewellery and cash worth Rs 2.12 lakh, was burgled from a Tangedco official's house in Tatabad.
DCP S Lakshmi said, "Our team has already managed to lift two fingerprints, which we are studying now. We have also asked for footage from all the CCTV cameras in the area, to see if images of the burglars entering the house was recorded“ Speaking to the media on Saturday.
