Stronger solar fences to protect animals from consuming garbage at Gudalur

One acre land was identified three months ago to dump garbage at Naduvattam for dumping nearly 19 tonnes of garbage generated in the locality. It was seen as threat to wildlife as the animals in the areas started consuming plastic waste. So the municipal corporation had completed the work of putting solar fencing around the dump yard with an estimate amount of Rs. 1 Lakh on Wednesday.

The present fencing system is not able to keep small animals away from consuming the garbage. The dump yard has three layers of metal wires respectively at a height of 2, 4, and 6 ft. high from the ground.

So the district collector Mr. Shankar during his visit has suggested some improvement works for the present system. The solar fence will have six layers by the end of this week .He urged the officials to recycle the plastic waste, and use it for laying roads. The construction of multi-storied houses for sanitary workers and tourism activities were also inspected by the district collector.
