Traffic regulation along 100-feet road from today

It will continue for a month till construction works of flyover are over.

Traffic along 100-ft-road from GP Signal towards Power House will not be allowed for one month beginning Wednesday to facilitate speedy construction of the Gandhipuram flyover.

The temporary traffic diversions will be in effect from 8.30 a.m.

Vehicles from Nanjappa Road, Siddhapudur and Sathy Road should take the Cross Cut Road and proceed to Shoba Corner. Movement of vehicles between the Power House and GP Junction will not be disturbed.

Vehicle users will, however, be allowed to cross 100-ft-road to reach Rathinapuri from Cross Cut Road provided there is no road digging work for the flyover at these connecting places.

The police have informed the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation and private bus operators too about the traffic diversion as there are two bus stops on the stretch that will be closed.

The regulation will continue if the construction got delayed. Traffic regulation along Siddhapudur Road will be implemented only after the construction works along the 100-ft-road is completed.

Traffic snarls likely

While the police say that they have made all arrangements to divert part of the traffic from 100-ft-road to Cross Cut Road, the movement of vehicles is likely to cause inconveniences to road users.

The diversion would increase the number of town buses plying along the Cross Cut Road. Yet, one side parking permitted along a major stretch of the road has not been changed.

The vehicles will continue to occupy a major share of the road and shrink motorable space. A police officer said that pedestrians keep crossing the road at many places adding to the woes. The officer said that the police may go for barricading the footpaths, as was done during festival season, to manage the crowd.

Pedestrians will be allowed to cross the road at select places only.
