Coimbatore : Petitioning against the alleged ill-treatment meted out to tourist taxi and maxicab drivers by transport officials, its members petitioned district collector with their 10 point charter of demands.
While enforcing the rules the officials insist on not violating 8 hours of duty per day and 48 hours in a week. The officials also seize driving licenses of taxi drivers, when they do not fall in line which leads to losing their livelihood measures for their families.
The tourist taxi drivers also sought an exemption for fixing speed governors in their vehicle and sought an exemption for fixing of restricted duty hours.
