Road Block Agitation: Over 2000 DMK-led protesters court arrest demanding roll back of bus fare hike

About 2000 cadres including 500 women belonging to opposition parties including the DMK and its allies courted arrest here today when they staged road block agitation in as many as 20 places in the city.

About 2000 cadres including 500 women belonging to opposition parties including the DMK and its allies courted arrest here today when they staged road block agitation in as many as 20 places in the city.



The roadblock agitation was staged in Gandhipuram, Ukkadam, RS Puram and other areas condemning against the steep bus fare hike and demanding its complete rollback.



Blaming the government for the 100% steep bus fare hike and demanding a complete rollback of the hike the opposition parties have laid roadblock in various places.



The opposition parties including the DMK, CPI, CPM VCK, MDMK, and Kongu Makkal Desiya Katchi have yesterday rejected the Government move offering a nominal reduction in fare structure and hit the streets in protest at the village, block and district levels.



Similar protest were staged in Nilgiris district in over 18 places and the cadres arrested.
