A mentally retarded man was injured by a wild elephant when he was sleeping on the roadside near Law College, in the outskirts of the city, here yesterday.
According to sources, the victim Soundhar Raja was a native of Salem. He was sleeping near the pavement when the tusker was roaming and it attacked him.
He fell unconscious on the spot with minor injuries and was immediately rushed to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
