Nilgiris District Collector Innocent Divya unfurled the national flag and accepted the guard of honor at the Republic day celebrations organized here in Ooty.
Later the collector distributed welfare measures to the tune of Rs.3.13 crores to the beneficiaries. Cultural programmes by Thodar, Irular, kothar tribals, accompanied by music was performed on the occasion.
Unlike in other districts the flag hoisting ceremony is held in Ooty at 10 am, as the town was engulfed by mist in the morning hours.
