Police are on the lookout for the notorious trio who have murdered a woman Rajamani, of Kanuvarkarai near Annur and decamped with the gold ornaments from her house.
According to police the threesome hailing from North India have worked as laborers for tile laying works which was going on in the house Mayilsamy, a farmer. The threesome has conspired and got the permission from the couple to carry out work in the night time, for which the couple acquiesced.
In the meanwhile, they woke up Rajamani around midnight as asked for water, when she went into the kitchen to fetch water they attacked her with logs and later Mayilsamy was tied up and electricity passed on him.
Hearing the shouts of help from Rajamani, the neighbors rushed to the spot upon which the threesome took to their heels with the booty.
While Rajamani’s body was sent for postmortem, the Mayilsamy was admitted to private hospital in a critical condition.
A police team has been formed to nab the culprits headed by a DSP. Fingerprints have been lifted from the crime spot and sniffer dogs pressed into service.
