Coimbatore, January 26
Peeved at the inaction of authorities over the halting of Madurai-Thiruvananthapuram Amirtha Express at Udumalaipettai, the cadres of Tamilar Panpattu Peravai resorted to a novel protest by submitting a petition to Mahatma Gandhi statue on Republic day.

Our long-standing demand has only fallen on deaf ears. Neither the Railway authorities nor the people representatives including MLAs and MP heeded to our demand in the past.

We are left with no other option but to appeal to our Father of the nation for to fulfill our needs.
The cadres also raised slogans in support of their demand.
