The city-based organization TASK (Towards a Serene Kovai) has set up a Children’s Park in Anna colony in Karumbukkadai after renovating what was once just a dump yard and neglected piece of land.
CCMC Commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan inaugurated the park which was provided with children’s playthings and other amenities today and hoisted the national flag.
The TASK volunteers who have obtained permission from the City Corporation has converted garbage dump yard into a vegetable garden in 2015 and then it was made into a children park area, with enough green cover in due course.
Terming the laying of the park as a multi-religious peace initiative, Gurdeep Singh Anand, President of TASK said that his organization has joined hands with multi-religious organizations to create religious amity including Siruthuli, RAAC, Universal Brotherhood, Jamaat Islami Hind, Gurdwaras and other Mutts.
"This children park is one such social initiative," Gurdeep Singh said.
Vanitha Mohan, Managing Trustee of NGO Siruthuli, C.R. Swaminathan, President of RAAC, Advocate Nandakumar of Universal Brotherhood Umar Farooq of Jamaat Islami Hind took part.
