The 69th Republic day was celebrated with fervour at the Theppakadu elephant camp of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) today.
MTR's Deputy Director V.A. Saravanan hoisted the national flag in the premises of the elephant camp.
Following the celebrations, the elephants in the camp were lined up and the pagans (the care takers of elephants) held the tri-colour flag as a mark of tribute. Staff of the forest department and the locals took part in the event.
