Medical negligence: Cotton and cloth found inside the body of 4- year old boy after surgery; parents file police complaint

Alleging medical negligence against the team of doctors who have operated upon a 4-year-old boy, which led to further complications and in whose stomach was found cotton and a cloth his parents have filed a formal police complaint seeking action against the negligent medical doctors who performed a surgery on him.

Alleging medical negligence against the team of doctors who have operated upon a 4-year-old boy, which led to further complications and in whose stomach was found cotton and a cloth his parents have filed a formal police complaint seeking action against the negligent medical doctors who performed a surgery on him.



Four-year-old Vishnu, son of Vinothkumar of Palani was put under the knife for a kidney ailment in a private hospital in Ramnagar in the city a good six months back. After the surgery, the boy had developed stomach ache and was admitted to a private hospital in Tiruchy.

To the shock and dismay of the boy’s parents, it was found out the piece of cotton and a cloth which was used during the earlier surgery were left in the stomach which led to the boy suffering from constant pain. The doctors have sutured the cut open area without removing the cotton and cloth. 

The petitioner had listed the name of doctors as Dr, Dharmendra, Dr. Vinoth and Dr. Kannadasan in his petition and sought proper police against them for medical negligence which led to further complications in the young patients and financial loss.
