Man dies while trying to reunite with wife

A 26-year-old man was found dead in a farm land at Kallar near Mettupalayam on Monday evening. Police said the man's wife had separated from him one month ago and began working in a farm. Her husband had gone to the farm at Kallar on Monday and requested her to come back. However, the woman refused and later he was found dead.

The deceased was identified as N Samuel, a native of Ariyur. Police said Samuel's wife Vijaya worked in a farm. Samuel had gone to visit his elder sister at Adhivasi Colony in Kallar Pudur, two weeks ago.

He began searching for his wife. On Monday, Samuel, Nagaraj and three others who were drunk, had gone to the farm land and demanded that Vijaya reunite with Samuel. When Kuppusamy, a farmer tried to intervene, he was assaulted by them. Samuel returned to the farm alone later to talk to his wife but he collapsed and died. Police inspector Sugavanam said the postmortem report revealed he died due to intoxication.
