Workers protest near the Coimbatore South Taluk office

Members of the engineering workers’ wing of the All India Trade Union Congress staged a protest near the Coimbatore South Taluk office on Tuesday.

According to sources, the members led by S. Radhakrishnan condemned the actions of the management of a machine tools company near Neelambur alleging that the management did not recognise workers’ union and had penalised workers who formed the union. Efforts to engage the management in tripartite talks with officials from the Labour Department too failed, the protestors said and sought reinstatement of leaders who were suspended and dismissed, among other demands.
