Bus catches fire on city road: no one injured

 A TNSTC town bus heading towards Ganapathy from Kovaipudur with 30 passengers, caught on fire on Variety Hall road in the city on Tuesday afternoon. No one was injured in the incident.

Police said, the bus route number 3 D, was heading towards Ganapathy from Kovaipudur. When the bus was near the Corporation Higher Secondary School on Variety Hall road, smoke was seen emanating from the engine. The driver stopped the bus and got down. He also alerted the passengers to exit the bus immediately.

Fire and rescue service personnel reached the spot and doused the fire quickly.
