Soon, cops to monitor Kovai city from comfort of a room

The city police has been making efforts to keep better watch over the city to ensure safety and security. Towards this end, they are setting up a modern control room with a video wall on which 32 televisions would be fixed. They have started work on fixing 208 Internet Protocol cameras at 52 traffic signal points in the city. These cameras will be connected to the control room.

The plan is to connect more than 2,000 CCTVs installed by people and private firms in various parts of the city to the control room.

According to officials, the facility will be completed in June. "We want to establish a modern control room to help Coimbatore city police to maintain law and order. We are in the process of setting up a video wall where more than 32 television can be fixed. These televisions will be linked with all the 208 cameras from next month," said city police commissioner A Amalraj.
