New year 2018: 'Raja Abhishekam' performed at Puliakulam Vinayakar temple; devotees throng temple

In connection with the New Year, special pujas were performed at several temples in the city. 

Thousands of devotees participated and offered prayers on the occasion of the New Year celebrations 2018 at the Vinayakar temple in Puliakulam here on Monday.

The deity of Lord Vinayakar was decorated with colorful flowers and ‘Raja Abhishekam’ was performed.

"Lord Vinayakar is the first among equals in the pantheon of Hindu Gods. And, starting of new events and occasions after offering prayers to the elephant-headed God is considered very auspicious", shared a devotee at the Puliakulam Vinayakar temple. 

New year special services were conducted at several churches in the city as well.
