Coimbatore, Dec. 29
The executive committee of the Coimbatore South District unit of DMK, which met here today, lambasted the City Corporation for "poor civic amenities".
Presided over by V.N. Palaniappan, the meeting passed resolutions regarding the civic amenities. “Over 10,000 street lights are under disrepair, and the Corporation parks have fallen on evil days due to poor maintenance. The condition of roads leaves much to be desired and the battered roads are yet to be relaid", a resolution said.
Extension of new water connections to households have been stopped for the past one and half years and government welfare measures have not reached the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in the district, the resolution alleged.
The meeting sought immediate action to ameliorate the plight of the city denizens.
N. Karthik, MLA, Viduthalai Virumbi, former MP, and a host of other DMK party functionaries took part in the meeting.
