Election laws must be given more teeth to curb bribing of voters: C.P. Radhakrishnan

Coimbatore, December 25

Alleging that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has failed to suspend the RK Nagar bypoll despite complaints of money distribution to voters, CP Radhakrishnan, Chairman, National Coir Board, said that only by enacting stringent electoral laws, fair and free elections could be ensured.

Inaugurating BJP party offices at Sowripalayam and Uppiliyapuram on the occasion of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 93rd birthday celebrations, Radhakrishnan said that those who have won through undemocratic means would not do any good to the people of the constituency, who have elected them.

While dubbing the RK Nagar bypoll victory of TTV Dinakaran as a temporary phenomenon, Radhakrishnan said the election laws should be given more teeth to curb money distribution and bribing of voters.
