NOTA numbers higher than a few parties

In a good number of the 10 Assembly constituencies in Coimbatore district, the number of voters who had chosen ‘None Of The Above (NOTA)’ was high, in the results that were declared on Thursday.

In fact, the number of NOTA votes was so high that it higher than the votes polled by Naam Tamilar or the Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi parties.

In Mettupalayam Assembly constituency, the number of voters who had chosen NOTA was 3,408, but the number of Naam Tamilar and KNMK votes was 1,508 and 1,604 respectively.

In Thondamuthur again, NOTA votes were at 3,248 which was higher than NaamTamilar’s 2,394 and KNMK’s 2,993.

The situation repeated in Coimbatore South, Kinathukadavu and also Kavundampalayam. In Kavundampalayam, for instance, NOTA at 5,274 was way head of Naam Tamilar’s 3,717 and KNMK’s 2,511.

Pollachi

In a few places such as Pollachi, NOTA votes were at 2,242 which was higher than Naam Tamilar Iyakkam which polled 1,362, but fewer than KNMK which polled 7,622.
