Pascall & Watson submits Trichy's International Airport design to Indian Government

Pascall & Watson has submitted its vision and concept design for a new passenger terminal at Tiruchirappalli International Airport in Trichy to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India.



The scope for the 60,000m² scheme includes architectural design, terminal planning and design co-ordination.



The concept combines references from local heritage and culture with a contemporary architectural language, creating a sense of place and identity for passengers, according to a release.



The GRIHA Four Star rated sustainable design maximises the use of natural light within the building and incorporates renewable energy measures, such as rainwater harvesting, ground source heat pumps and photovoltaic panels.

Due for completion in 2020, the airport will accommodate both international and domestic flights for over 3.5 million passengers each year.



The project is in addition to the concept design of a new terminal at Thiruvananthapuram and the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at Lucknow.
