Counting of votes: Police announce traffic diversion plan for today

The police have effected a temporary traffic diversion plan in some parts of the city in view of the vote counting process at the Government College of Technology (GCT) on Thursday.

The vehicles entering the city through Marudhamalai Road and Thadagam Road, police said, should take the Cowley Brown Road from Lawly Road Junction, instead of proceeding via GCT.

Vehicles passing through Venkatapuram Junction from Thadagam Road shall take a left turn at the junction and go via N S R Road to reach their respective destinations.

Vehicles from Avinashilingam University heading to GCT shall take Bharathi Park Road, and turn right from the seventh street on Bharathi Park Road, instead of travelling further in the same stretch.

The traffic diversion has been effected to avoid unnecessary crowding and congestion in front of the counting centre. City police commissioner Amalraj said the traffic plan was temporary and would be lifted after the counting process.
