Writer C. Muthusamy honoured with 'Vishnupuram - 2017' award

Coimbatore, Dec. 18

"Language is the identity of any ethnic group. So, never lose touch with it," said C. Muthusami, a Malayasia based Tamil writer, who has won the 'Vishnupuram - 2017' award.

Speaking after receiving the award here yesterday from Vishnupuram Ilakkiya Vattam, he said "I am receiving the award on behalf of the people who left this country nearly a century ago, but are yet to create a proper life for themselves till date." He added that the identity of an ethnic group is defined by its language. The Tamilians in Indonesia and Mauritius lost their identity as they lost touch with the language. So, it's important to stay in touch with our language.

Muthusamy received the award for his literary contributions and this award is given annually by Vishnupuram Ilakkiya Vattam, a Coimbatore-based literary group since 2010, to eminent writers.

Writers like Jeyamohan, P.A. Krishnan, and Rajagopalan were also present in the event. On the occasion, a book titled 'C. Muthusami Malaysia Tamizh Ilakkyathin Munnodi' and 'Rubber vidaigaludan Vilayadum Kalignan', short film were also released.
