Both TamilNadu toppers hail from same school

H Jaswanth, one of the state toppers with 1195 marks, from Sri Vidhya Mandir Matriculation higher secondary school in Uthankarai in Krishnagiri district wants to become a doctor. "I wish to study medicine and serve the needy and poor".

His father Haribabu works as a secretary in a cooperative bank in Velanjeri near Tirutani and his mother Latha is a homemaker. His elder sister Swathi is a BE computer science graduate.

"I'm not surprised with the results, I expected to hold a state rank. But I did expect to score a few more marks, but I am happy," he said.

He added that he sacrificed his holidays and worked hard to prepare for the board exams. "This result was possible because of my parents and teachers, who offered me full support and help," he added.

This is not the first time Jaswanth has made headlines as he was the state Class 10 topper as well.

Another school topper V Aarthi, of the same school, scored 1,195 and hopes to become a doctor as well. "I am preparing for the medicine entrance exams,"

Her father P Venkatachalam, is a TNEB employee and her mother Vasanthi is a house wife.

"I did expect to get a state ranking, but topping the state was a surprise," she said and added that her parents and teachers supported her.

Sri Vidhya Mandir Matriculation Higher Secondary School correspondent Chandra Sekaran said the students were very sincere and hardworking.

"The efforts we put in our students has paid off and can be reflected in the laurels achieved by Jaswanth and V Aarthi," he said.
