New couples love democracy in togetherness

Wedding turned momentous for three couples in Gobichettipalayam Assembly constituency as they thought it best not to miss out on voting in marriage attire.

Incidentally, the brides had a common name. Bridegroom Prabakar of Mettuvalavu in Gobichettipalayam and bride Indumathy of Chinniyampalayam in Coimbatore district received greetings and blessings from other voters as also polling personnel at a booth near his house where he cast his vote.

They lost no time after the rituals got over at Ligeswarar Temple in Avinashi and rushed to Gobichettipalayam. After the bridegroom cast his vote, the couple headed immediately towards Chinniyampalayam to enable the bride to fulfil the democratic responsibility.

Indumathi of Karattipalayam in Gobichettipalayam and Saravanan of Sundakkamuthur in Coimbatore also went through a similar experience. They came from a wedding hall in Gobichettipalayam in marriage attire to Karattipalayam where the bride cast her vote and subsequently drove to the bridegroom’s house at Sundakkamuthur where he exercised his franchise.

In yet another instance, Indumathi of Velumani Nagar in Gobichettipalayam and Saravanan of Saravanampatti displayed pride in attaching equal priority to fulfilling their democratic responsibility. After the bride voted for the candidate of her choice, the couple left for Saravanampatti, the place of voting for Saravanan.
