Many out-of-towners return home to cast their vote

Many out-of-town voters travelled to the city to exercise their franchise. Natives from Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore and several other towns and cities arrived in Coimbatore to cast their vote.

A Palanichamy from Vignesh Nagar in Peelamedu, is an officer at a bank in Mumbai. "I always make sure that I vote where ever I am. I also encourage my friends who have to travel to cast their votes without fail," said Palanichamy. For the last five years, there has been no development in the state, he said. Thus, it is important that everyone votes for change, he added.

R Vignesh from Kuniamuthur works as an assistant manager in the banking sector in Bangalore. He came to Coimbatore from Bangalore by bus to exercise his franchise. "It is my duty to cast my vote to select a good person as a member of legislative assembly (MLA). We (youths) are looking for change in the state. We are hopeful that the new government would improve the welfare of the state," said Vignesh.

K Thangabalan, a medical representative, working in Bangalore city in Karnataka state came to Coimbatore city by car to cast his vote at Kavundampalayam. "The youth are eagerly awaiting change. I cast my vote to ensure we vote a new government to power," said Thangabalan.

A young couple from Chennai and Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district also voted here on Monday. "Though we had our voter-Id, our names were missing from the polling slips and so we never voted. This year, since we had this opportunity, we did not want to miss it. Moreover, this year's election is very important and we wanted to be a part of it," said Ramamoorthy from Sivakasi.
