Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the city police were deployed for security arrangements at the polling stations in all the 10 Assembly segments across the district on Sunday.
In addition to booth level arrangements, the police have also taken steps for smooth conduct of the elections by stepping up security in the city.
According to city police sources, the City Police Commissioner and four deputy commissioners will have a 15-member striking force, while the nearly 25 assistant commissioner and 40 inspectors will have a five-member quick response team with them.
Four-tier security arrangements have been prepared for the Government College of Technology (GCT) where the Electronic Voting Machines will be brought from all the 2,911 booths in the 10 Assembly constituencies in the district. CCTV surveillance is also done at the counting centre.
More than 400 personnel and officers will be engaged with security arrangements at the counting centre in three shifts. Arrangements at GCT will begin at 2 p.m. on Monday and will be maintained till the late hours of May 20, the day after counting votes.
