Election department officials, along with income Tax sleuths carried out a search in the house of Manohar, State Chairman of Cooptex in Pollachi, today.
The search was based on an information that huge amount was kept for distribution among the voters, police said.
However, no cash or gift were found during the search and the officials returned empty handed. Meanwhile, a case was registered against an AlADMK panchayat member for possessing Rs.7.87 lakh without proper documents in the city outskirts.
The 14th ward member of Thirumalayampalayam, Krishnamurthy, aged 55 years, was stopped by the flying squad near Navakkarai last night, and on search found Rs.7.87 lakh in the pouch of his motorcycle.
Since he had no proper documents, the team seized the amount and a case was registered against the members.
