Coimbatore, Nov. 27
Mr. Martin Ney, German Ambassador to India, from Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Germany, was here today to conduct a review with the officials to discuss on the on-going smart city project.
Ms. Anandhi Iyer from Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan, Corporation Commissioner and Managing Director of Coimbatore Smart City Limited, and other senior officials were present at today's review meet here.
On September 12, an MoU was signed between Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. The MoU was signed by Mr. Vijayakarthikeyan and Ms. Anandhi Iyer, Director, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft’s India office to set up a smart city innovation lab here, the first of its kind in the country. It was signed under the smart city mission programme.
According to sources, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft will share its expertise in various sectors like renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste management, sustainable buildings, digital innovation and more. Hence, this meeting is regarded to be very important and expected to help expedite the project.
