Getting businesswomen ‘Board Ready’

Coimbatore, Nov. 22

In an attempt to make businesswomen professionally ready to be a part of managerial activities in their family businesses, a brainstorming session on ‘Getting Board Ready’ for family owned companies was held here today..

The session was jointly organised by Coimbatore chapter of FICCI FLO and Korn Ferry International, as a part of "Emerging Women Directors'’ Programme.

Speaking at the event, Monica Agarwal, Head of Global Financial Services at Korn Ferry International, said that women who were in decision making boards should stop micromanaging and start managerial activities on a large scale.

“You should be independent thinkers and courageous. But always be influential rather than confrontational when throwing in a suggestion or idea, “ she said.

Asking them to be aware of the shifts in the financial ecosystem, Ms. Agarwal added that businesswomen should always be updated with information.

“There should be a high focus on compliance, transparency, accountability and good communication skill that conveys view points pleasantly, “ she advised.

Ranjana Waish Agarwal, Managing Partner of Vaish and Associates, Chartered Accounts from New Delhi, said integrity should be an important quality of an independent Director of a Board.

She also explained the duties and responsibilities of a Board member and means of breaking out of the shells to be successful members of the Board.
