Four sandalwood trees axed in prison, security arrangements questioned

Coimbatore, Nov 18: Despite the three-deck security arrangements in the prison, a gang has managed to axe four fully grown sandalwood trees in the wee hours of Friday.

Out of the four trees, the gang has managed to escape with two of them. And, they have left all the tools used for cutting the tree at the prison premises itself.

The Race Course police have registered a case.

It is to be noted that all the axed trees were located close to the DIG's office inside the prison. People wonder when miscreants could enter the prison and escape comfortably, what sort of security is provided for the prisoners?
