Man injured by stray elephants


Coimbatore, Nov. 15: A 34-year-old man was injured by wild elephants when he went out to relieve himself near IOB Colony, on the outskirts of Coimbatore, on Wednesday.

The incident happened when Forest Department Personnel were involved in guiding two wild elephants back into the reserve from Somayampalayam village.

The elephants that were near a farm in the village around 6 a.m., were guided through the backside of Anna University campus, Bharathiar University, IOB colony and Indira Nagar.



As they were moving through fields, the animals had injured K. Suresh from Salem, who was out in the fields.

He fell unconscious on the spot with minor injuries and was immediately rushed to hospital.
