Coimbatore, Nov 14: Alleging that the school management has been imposing fines on students for speaking in Tamil, a ninth grade student, along with her father and a social activist petitioned the District Collector today
The girl is studying in ninth grade at a private school in Chettipalayam. She was accompanied by her father and social activist, Marina.
"Sometime ago, I conversed to a kid in my school in Tamil. The school management not only warned me but imposed a fine for doing so. Not just this, the school lacks basic infrastructure and basic amenities. Often, the students are forced to clean the premise including garbage", she said.
"Like me, there are so many students who have been tortured by the school management. However they are afraid of speaking up", she said.
Speaking on this, social activist Marina said "I know the student's family personally. While interacting with her, I came to know that she was very dejected due to harassment by the school management. She also no interest in continuing to live".
The student also pointed out that the sports teacher in her school has not been behaving well with the students.
