Dr P. Muthurajan, Interventional Radiologist and his team from Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, performed an advanced procedure called 'Endovascular Aneurysm Repair' on a 56-year-old woman diagnosed with aortic aneurysm (swelling).
A release from the hospital states: "This is the first time this procedure has been carried out in our hospital. With the advent of this technology the patient was treated without undergoing an open surgery. Instead 'Endovascular Aneurysm Repair' method was opted by the team of specialists which is minimally invasive".
This highly expensive procedure was done 'free of cost' under CM's comprehensive insurance scheme, the release added.
