Coimbatore, Nov 9: Alleging tax evasion, Income Tax officials on Thursday conducted a string of raids at the residence and offices of T.T.V. Dinakaran, head of the Sasikala faction of AIADMK.
Back here, IT officials raided the establishments of businessmen Mr. Arumugasamy and Mr. Sajeevan. The former is a known supporter of Sasikala-Dinakaran. He is also known for sponsoring free education to underprivileged children.
And, the latter is also known for his links with Mr. Dinakaran. Sajeevan has been the in-charge (contractor) at the sprawling Kodanad Estate at Kotagiri for setting up wooden interiors in the palatial bungalow inside the estate.
It is to be noted that he was also interrogated in connection with the murder of Krishna Bahadur (37), the security guard at Kodanad who was hacked to death by a gang of armed robbers on April 24 this year.
Sources say, seven locations belonging to the duo were raided.
The raids have created a suspicion in the minds of the public whether it is "political vendetta" by Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam faction of AIADMK to hurt Dinakaran and his allies.
