Amutha Kannan, Editor and Bureau Chief of SimpliCity, will host “EduCity”, the weekly column on higher education, every Monday.

As former Correspondent of The Hindu, Coimbatore, she has been writing on higher education for many years. Coimbatore is the Mecca of higher education in Tamil Nadu and boasts of seven universities.

The Western region is home to a few hundred colleges and attracts many from nearing states too. She was also the Western region anchor for the newspaper’s weekly education supplement ‘Education Plus’, now ‘Edge’. Recipient of the Laadli Media Award for Gender Sensitivity, and a TED speaker, she serves as a resource person in colleges/universities.

The column, every Monday, will focus on the trends in the local institutions and also policies / reforms relating to higher education at the State and national level.
