Coimbatore, Nov 5: Six tea estate workers from Valparai were reported to have sustained injuries after they were bitten by poisonous beetles from the forest area.
Kala (49), Devi (58), Amasi (59), Sudha (40), Rosali (43), Palaniammal (48) and Vasuki (58), employees of Manika Estate in Valparai were the victims of the beetle attack. All the injured are undergoing treatment at Stanmore Hospital.
The incident has created panic among the tea estate workers as poisonous beetles attack in swarms, especially during rainy seasons.
