Gold bars worth Rs.18 lakh seized in Coimbatore Airport

Coimbatore, Nov 5: Customs officials at Coimbatore International Airport on Saturday seized Rs 18 lakh worth 5 gold bars weighing 583 gm from a passenger.

Based on a tip off, the Customs officials stopped Mohammed Salim (29) , a passenger on an Air India flight from Sharjah. Upon checking, the officials found 5 bold bars concealed in his abdomen. The worth of the seized gold bars is estimated to be around Rs. 18 lakhs, Salim was handed over to the police and a case has been registered. Initial investigation reveals that Mohammed Salem hails from Malapuram, Kerala.
