More dengue cases from three areas, says CMCH Dean

Coimbatore, Nov 4: "Considering the overall count of dengue-affected cases from city limits, our records indicate that more number of patients are from three areas --- Singanallur, Ganapathy and Telengupalayam," said Dr.B.Ashokan, Dean, Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Besides, among those treated at CMCH for dengue from nearby districts, Tirupur District accounts for more than 50% of the patients.

"Though dengue is completely treatable, early intervention is very important. Delayed reference to the hospital makes the treatment process very complicated. And, awareness among the people to keep their premises clean and free from water stagnation will help prevent spread of dengue to a great extent", the Dean said.

Imposing fines on residents and commercial establishments for proliferating dengue causing mosquitoes has been carried out by the City Corporation. Now, with these three areas (Singanallur, Ganapathy and Telengupalayam) being pointed out by the Dean, question rises whether City Corporation will focus its attention on these localities and thus eradicate the reasons for surge in dengue.
