Coimbatore, Nov 4: Two cops from the District Traffic Investigation Department here were caught red-handed when they were taking bribe from a truck driver.
On November 2, two constables Chinnaraj and Kanagaraj were on a routine vehicle inspection duty on the Kallampalayam stretch. They had stopped a poultry truck and demanded bribe from the driver. While they were taking the bribe, Superintendent of Police, P. Moorthy who was passing by that way grew suspicious and stopped his car to find out what was happening.
As they confessed to their crime, the issue was conveyed to City Police Commissioner A. Amalraj. The erring cops were warned and transferred to the Reserve Police wing with immediate effect. An investigation has also been ordered in this regard.
