Officials seek residents' co-operation to eradicate dengue.

Coimbatore, Nov 3: At an inspection held today at the 86th ward, Karumbukadai area, Corporation Commissioner Dr.Vijay Karthikeyan sensitized the residents to keep their premises free from water stagnation. He also urged them to ensure that all water storage sumps and vessels are sealed. The residents were also advised to dispose of unused items like broken pots, unused flower pots, tubes and tyres.

People tend to be more cautious and use mosquito repellents only during the night and also they are under the impression that mosquitoes are generally spawned in open ditches. On the contrary, the dengue-causing aedes aegypti mosquito breeds in fresh water and bites during the day time, the officials told the residents.

City Welfare Officer, Maru. K. Santhosh Kumar, and Deputy Commissioner, P. Gandhimathi were present during the inspection.
