Coimbatore, Nov 2: Following the 'omnious' warning issued by the weather department on high chances of severe thunder storms along the coastal regions in TN, for the next 3-4 days, all educational institutions in Chennai, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur districts were asked to remain closed for the third consecutive day.
Sadly, an incident in Chennai has claimed the life of two innocent school children who were electrocuted after they stepped on a live electric wire that was immersed in stagnant rain water, on Wednesday.
Hence as an act of extreme caution, the District Administration has extended hoilday for all educational institutions in all seven districts. They have also said that depending on the veracity of the rains and water clogging issues, orders will be passed to extend the holiday upto this weekend.
However, more than the heavy down pour, water clogging in all arterial junctions in Chennai has curtailed the mobility of residents, thereby compelling the residents to restart the 'boat service' to shift base to safer locations.
