Coimbatore, Oct 31: The entire stretch from Park gate to 100 feet road is abuzz with AIADMK cadres busy decorating the newly constructed flyover with party flags, posters, signboards, flex cut outs, etc. for the grand inauguration of the newly constructed flyover at Gandhipuram.
The much-awaited facility will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisami, tomorrow, ( Nov 1) between 3 and 4pm.
The Rs 195 crore 1752-metre long and 16.6 wide flyover connecting Park gate and Lakshipuram will be a great boon to the city's expanding vehicular population.
Though the plan of constructing the flyover was announced during the "Semmozhi Manadu" period in 2010 by the then ruling DMK government, the construction work commenced during the AIADMK's reign in 2014.
Initially it was decided to construct a three-storey flyover. However the idea was modified to build a two-storey flyover with four lanes.
"There will be no traffic diversion in the city in connection with the inauguration" said a senior official from the Traffic wing of the Police department.
