Coimbatore, Oct 31: Among several cleaning initiatives taken by the households to keep water stagnation at bay, they often forget to clean the water accumulation trays behind or underneath the refrigerators which is one of the major sources for breeding Aedes mosquitoes.

In a dengue inspection held today at the 36th ward at Poonga Nagar, the Deputy Corporation Commissioner Mrs. P. Gandhimathi paid a surprise visit to a residence to inspect the water stagnation in the refrigerator. She sensitized the residents to keep a regular check on water stagnation and how the dengue-spreading mosquitoes breed in refrigerator trays, water storage sumps, sunshades and terraces.
The officials also visited the Corporation Primary School at Ward No:34 and thoroughly checked for all possibilities of water stagnation and advised the staff at the School to regularly check on water stagnation.

City Welfare Officer, Mr. Maru.K. Santhoshkumar, and Assistant Commissioner (east zone) Mr. Ravikumar were present.
