Coimbatore, Oct 31: Due to Goods and Services Tax (GST) implementation the price of goods and services has shot up but the Central Government says the contrary. "This is totally untrue", asserted Mr.T.Vellaiyan, President Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangankalin Peravai.
He inaugurated a private pharmacy on Monday at Mettupalayam, near here, where he addressed the media.
He alleged that GST affected business and business people in India. “Only MNCs have benefitted because of GST. But small scale business people are seriously hurt because of GST Previously we were paying VAT. Now we are paying GST, much more than VAT", he lamented.
He also alleged that some foreign governments pressured India into implementing GST for their benefits and profits. “One country, one tax system is a total waste. How could it help the business people, especially small business people?. It helps only online trading system. Most of the online trading companies are MNCs and hence domestic business suffers,” said Mr.Velliyan.
Further he added that only our domestic business will help improve the Indian economy. He requested the people to buy only Indian products in market as it will help the domestic business and the Indian economy as well.
