Visually impaired person alleges Inspector demanded bribe

Coimbatore, Oct 30: Bathran, a visually-impaired person, has petitioned the District Collector to take action against Inspector Ramachandran of Ukkadam Police Station alleging that he had demanded bribe for issuing no objection certificate to set up a petty shop.

"I have been granted a fund of Rs. 30,000/- under the Corporation's special fund for people with disabilities to set up a petty shop in Ukkadam bus stand. With regard to the same, I am supposed to submit a no objection certificate from the local police station to the concerned authorities. However, the Inspector at the Ukkadam Police station has been unduly delaying the process. And, finally he now demands a bribe from me despite knowing my pathetic situation", the petition said.

"As a last resort, I have come here to seek justice from the District Collector", Bathran said.
