Residents and commercial establishments need to pay more fine every time if they failed to prevent breeding of dengue causing mosquitoes in their premises.
According to a directive of the Commissioner of Revenue Administration, the corporation has proposed to levy fine on households, commercial establishments, hospitals and other institutions. During the inspection by health officials at residential areas, if breeding source is found, notice will be served onto individual houses, fine of Rs. 150 would be levied if the sources were found for second time and Rs. 500 fine for the third time. If it is flats or multi-storeyed complex or gated community, a fine of Rs. 500 would be levied for first time, Rs. 5,000 fine for second time and Rs. 15,000 fine if the source is found for the third time.
In case of construction sites, if it is individual residence, Rs. 500, Rs. 2,500 and Rs. 10,000 fine would be levied for the first, second and third time respectively for failing to check mosquito breeding. In case of commercial buildings and flats, Rs. 10,000,Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 50,000 would be levied for first, second and third time respectively for failing to check breeding source. In case of industries, Rs. 25,000, Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 1 lakh would be levied if breeding source is found for the first, second and third time respectively.
In case of government or private hospitals, if breeding source is found, for a hospital with more than 50 beds, a fine of Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 5 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh would be levied for the first, second and third time respectively. In case of the hospital with les than 50 beds, fine of Rs. 25,000, Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh respectively would be levied for first, second and third violations.
In case of schools and colleges, if less than 1,000 students, Rs. 5000, Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 50,000 would be fined respectively and if more than 1,000 students, Rs. 25,000, Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh would be fined respectively for first, second and third violations. For commercial establishments, including two star and above hotels, lodges and big industries, they would be fined Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 5 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh respectively for the violations.
