Special committee to monitor movement of mediators at CMCH - Dean

After the incident wherein a mediator had tried to brain-wash a patient at CMCH to shift to a private hospital, the authorities of the CMCH have tightened the loose ends by forming a special committee to monitor the movement of brokers inside the hospital.

Dr.B.Asokan, Dean, CMCH, said "A special committee comprising nurses and doctors will be formed to eliminate the mediators/brokers who misguide the patients on the facilities available at CMCH and lure them to private hospitals for their personal gains. In one such incident, yesterday, a patient was approached by a middleman who urged a patient to shift to a private hospital. He was caught red-handed and he is at present under police custody. To avoid such unpleasant situations, we have placed placards warning the patients and their attendants to beware of such intermediaries who often leave the patients' and their families in the lurch".

The Dean further apprised that "There are also a set of advocates who misguide the patients in CMCH promising them to get higher third-party insurance compensations. The patients and their attendants who are mostly ignorant of the legal terms and procedures blindly believe the advocates and lose the meagre money they have. There are instances where the advocates charge interest for the amount they have spent on the case and at last swindle a major portion of the settlement amount".

"Undoubtedly, the quality and infrastructural facilities at CMCH will benefit the people in the best possible way. Hence, people should be cautious about such miscreants who spread wrong information to tarnish the image of CMCH, mostly for their personal gains", said the Dean.
