Coimbatore, Oct 28: John alias Murugan (47) was arrested by Race Course Police for falsely promising a patient in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on insurance reimbursement and also trying to lure him to a private hospital.
Yesterday, Chandrasekar (40) was admitted to CMCH after he met with a road accident at Pollachi. He was approached by a middleman named John who promised Chandrasekar that he would arrange for insurance reimbursement for his accident if he agrees to shift to a particular private hospital in the City.
Chandrasekar not only rejected his offer but also warned him not to disturb him as he was satisfied with the treatment provided at CMCH. On hearing this information, Dr.Ramesh Raja, who was at the ward stopped John and wanted to know his intention.
Shockingly, John threatened Dr.Ramesh to stay away from this as he has the "backing" of some top officials. Unflustered Dr.Ramesh reported it to the Race Course Police, who registered a case against John and took him into custody.
As revealed by John, it is suspected that he might have the backing of officials from Health and other allied departments. And, in order to trace his nexus, the police have taken this case very seriously and are interrogating him from all angles.
It is to be noted that a similar sequence of events wherein brokers negotiating with the parents and the attenders of patients were portrayed in the latest much-talked 'Mersal' movie.
