Coimbatore, October, 28: "Looking back, now I can proudly say diagnosis of breast cancer does not mean the end of life. Proper treatment can restore your normal life", shared a breast cancer survivor at the "Survivors Meet" by Sri Ramakrishna Institute for Oncology Research (SRIOR), held today at the hospital.

"The "Survivors Meet" is now re-christened as “Winners Meet” as the meet serves the motto of not facing breast cancer alone. The statistics of alarming rise of breast cancer incidence clearly indicates the culture of our country which reflects the shyness and fear of talking about breast cancer as such" said Dr.P.Guhan, Director, SRIOR.
"As breast cancer cannot be prevented, breast cancer awareness is the single most important factor responsible for changing this scenario" he said.
Every year in the month of October, SRIOR conducts activities and programmes to create awareness on breast cancer. And, this year they have launched a web link “Bluetoothbreastcancer.com”, an awareness message in audio format which can be downloaded in any digital device.
A team of doctors from the Oncology department interacted with the patients and responded to the queries put-forth by them.
